Blueberry Picking Fun!
Every year my sister and I make a real effort to go blueberry picking while the kids are on vacation. The best place for this activity is Jones Family Farm in Shelton. They have two different locations of blueberry fields. We’ve managed to do it every year, but it was a close call this year. I don’t know about you, but I just love blueberries!
This summer, my sister was finishing up the last class for her degree, so she was super busy. I can’t even be mad haha! However, lucky for us all, she finished up just in time. We picked the perfect day out of the last 3 days of the blueberry season. We got to pick from 3 different areas, each one better than the first. There was some poison ivy to watch out for, but so far it appears none of us came in contact. I really hope to keep this berry picking tradition alive every year. There’s nothing more important than spending time with family doing something both healthy and fun.
We ended up picking almost 8 pounds of blueberries between our 2 baskets. I can’t wait to find some delicious recipes to incorporate our blueberries in, which I hope to post on the blog. I love making blueberry pancakes, smoothies, maybe I will try my hand at pie this year. That is, if I don’t eat them all, they’re as easy to eat as popcorn! What are some of your favorite blueberry recipes? Let me know in the comment section!!
