Hooray, it’s Taco Tuesday!! In our house, tacos may not be an art-form but they are definitely a must. Now I don’t know if anyone has ever tried this, it’s new and exciting to me. I’m also not claiming it is my own idea, or recipe, this is just my spin on basic tacos from the most basic taco maker ever!
I can’t tell you how many times I have Pinterest searched taco recipes. Or how many times I have seen these recipes for beautiful, delicious looking avocado-salsa filled dream boat tacos. Too many times I’d say. Every time they leave me feeling super inspired and hungry. So I’d sojourn down to my local Shoprite and start picking out the ingredients, filled with false hope and more hunger. I always miss the mark on these fancy taco recipes.

How to Make the Most Basic Taco
Now, I am not fancy when it comes to food. I’m not going to garnish something I’m going to destroy in five minutes flat. But I also don’t especially like taco seasoning mixed with water. Blech. So my super secret ingredient is red enchilada sauce. Some people reading this are probably like…Duh?? But I might have just enlightened others, so I will post this recipe I use. Without further ado, I present to you my beloved basic taco recipe!
Super basic taco recipe, that probably already exists for all I know and I’m just late to the party. Whatever, enjoy!
- 1.5 lbs Ground beef (Use whatever protein you enjoy, sometimes I use ground chicken)
- 1 packet Old El Paso seasoning
- 10 oz can Old El Paso red enchilada sauce
- I usually cook between 1.5 and 2 lbs of ground beef on medium heat until browned.Drain browned ground beef because fat is bad.Return beef to pan, pour sauce and packet over beef and stir until well combined.Put beef into taco shells or whatever taco meat holders you’d like. I also enjoy this on salad and halved red peppers.Cheese those babies, veg them, whatever you please and eat them because they are going to be so good!!
