A Vinegar Confession…
I have a confession to make. I only recently unwittingly dove into the world of infused oils and vinegar. My mom took a day trip with us two weeks ago up to Hammonassett Beach, and that of course ended with a stop for ice cream. It was a pretty fun, busy day. We stopped in Madison, Ct. for ice cream at a place called Ashley’s Ice Cream in this cute little plaza. After enjoying (devouring) some delicious ice cream while people watching, we decided to take a peak into a little shop called The Shoreline Vine.

My mom has loved infused vinegar for quite some time. She has quite the little stock pile in a variety of flavors. It always sounded interesting, but with three kids, I’m not likely to go out of my way to seek out flavored vinegar. We’ve also talked about making plans to visit a shop, but it just never came to fruition. Until now. She had me, we drove up in her car so I had nowhere to run. We were an hour drive away from home, it was now or never.
We went inside, where we were surrounded by an array of oils and vinegars to try. They had fruity infusions, savory, sweet, and spicy. I stuck mostly to fruity and sweet taste testers. It’s incredible the flavors they have! Thanks to my lovely Mother, I ended up leaving with a white balsamic vinegar infused with pineapple and white truffle oil. At first, I was far more intrigued by the knickknacks, the cute cheese boards and tiny spreaders. I love pretty little things. But once I tried a few flavors, with small pieces of bread no less, I was hooked! I’m already planning out a post about the different, tasty dishes that I have added these flavors to.
So tell me, have you already tried infused oils and vinegars?? Are you hooked, and what are your favorites, so I can look out for what to try next! Leave me a comment, I’d love to hear from you!!
