Happy October, Dreamers!! My favorite month of the year has arrived, and I am feeling festive! I know autumn technically begins in September, but for the love of fall, it’s just not fall until October. The weather is so beautifully crisp in the morning when we walk to the bus stop, and just warm enough in the afternoon. It just makes me feel more alive. And, spoiler alert: it’s also my birth month! Yes, yesterday I turned 29 for the fourth time. Don’t judge me lol. As I tell my husband, I’ll let go of 29 when I’m good and ready! In celebration of my birthday, October, and all things fall I’m writing a post about all the things I love about fall!

My favorite things about fall
The slight change in weather is one of my favorite things right off the bat. I love sunshine just as much as the next sun worshiper, but by October I’m ready for a change. But don’t misconstrue my meaning here because I don’t like the fall of November and December. No that’s much too cold. This time of the year though, it’s perfect. Not too warm that you can start giving in to our basic creature comforts like fuzzy socks and hoodie sweatshirts, but not too cold where you can’t stop shivering. Not having to go from central air straight to a sky-high heating bill is a beautiful thing.
The leaves starting to turn just can’t be beat. I can’t deny that there is something truly magical in the fall foliage of Connecticut. The deal breaker is when all those beautiful leaves fall and everything seems so bleak. I crave aesthetically pleasing environments and leafless trees just bring me down.
Pumpkin! I am not so very basic that I will say pumpkin spice everything lol but I have a soft spot for pumpkin. It probably has something to do with being mislead as a child. No I’m just kidding, but my grandma has always made us and now recently bought us pumpkin pie. When I was little, I was given a slice of pumpkin pie with Cool Whip on top. I didn’t know any better and I thought that the Cool Whip was pumpkin pie lol. The rest is history as they say and I just get so excited for any holiday that allows me to eat my beloved pumpkin pie! I also love going pumpkin picking and carving pumpkins. How could you not when you live in the same town as the best pumpkin patch around?? Jones Family Farms is the only place we get our pumpkins!

Halloween, Halloween movies and trick or treating, Duh!! Though it’s always tedious to drag these kids around a neighborhood that doesn’t have a lot of kids, which means there isn’t a whole lot of houses to stop at, I still love it! It’s exciting and exhausting. I love the costumes, too. I’m not a professional when it comes to dressing these kids up but I do the best I can with what I have and thankfully they never complain. It’s also so fun to watch their reactions to the movies I grew up watching like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, Casper, etc. We love getting out our pillows and blankets and snuggling up together with some popcorn to watch a movie.
Who doesn’t love a good bonfire, friday night football games, or hot chocolate? But one of my most very favorite thing, is pulling out the fall clothes. There’s usually a really good sale going on at Gap or Gapcash I acquired from ordering clothes for one of the girls birthdays, which makes me a very happy mama! I thoroughly enjoy shopping for cute clothes to dress my monsters in, probably more so than shopping for myself. I just love when an outfit comes together, getting compliments on how cute they look. It’s incredibly satisfying lol. Here are some snaps from Charlotte’s outfit today! A few of these items are sold you so I added a alternatives at the bottom that I think would be just as cute. you can also check them out here, here and here
So what do you guys think of my favorite fall things?? What are some of your favorite things about fall or October? Drop me a comment, I’d love to hear from you!!
